For almost 300 years, Herkules has watched over us, standing proudly, high above Kassel, on Wilhelmshöhe. This impressive monument has become synonymous with Kassel, and is arguably its most important landmark. On 23rd June 2013, the Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe and the Herkules were proclaimed as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Herkules is a copper statue depicting the ancient Greek demigod, Heracles. The construction of Herkules started in 1701 and was finished in 1717.
2017 is the year of Documenta 14, one of the worlds most significant art exhibitions, and the 300th birthday celebration of our world-famous copper-figure!
Juweller Range and the whole team are already celebrating! In honor of this wonderful occasion, we have created something very special for all fans of Kassels most famous hero! Now available: Kassel’s landmark in different designs.
Because our herkules® is much smaller than the original, we took the creative liberty of spelling the name all in lowercase letters. As a tribute to our beloved city, we have cast our herkules® in Silver. All the pieces of our herkules® collection are made of 925/- Silver, with the only exception being the bracket component of the tie clip, which is made of stainless steel.
For visitors and tourists, our herkules® is a very travel-friendly souvenir for yourself, friends or family.
As Kassel is a very cosmopolitan city, we wanted to represent this diversity by providing three different types of herkules®. Within our collection, there are three different sizes and several different styles of our hero available.
The statue of Herkules in Wilhelmshöhe watches over us with his head inclined upwards, casting his fatherly gaze towards our city. But our design is different. We have drawn our inspiration from the Art Nouveau, or in German Jugendstil. Appropriate for this period, we have designed herkules® with the style of this distinctive artistic movement. He stands casually, with his leg bent slightly, and appears to be more delicate, with a dynamic silhouette. His posture and the position of his legs contribute to an essence of femininity.
This herkules® is completely solid and designed as a compact figure. Of the three versions, this one is most similar to the original statue in Wilhelmshöhe, and is in keeping with traditional design and the history of Herkules.
The smallest herkules® is the most playful one from our trio. He is standing straight on his right leg, while his left leg is bent backwards. In this minimalist style, he is dynamic and reduced to the essential exuding self-confidence. The smallest and youngest herkules stands for the new Kassel: Todays Kassel.
We can also produce any of our herkules® in gold. Whether gold-plated or pure gold – everything is possible.
Please talk to us about your needs, and we would be happy to create the perfect herkules® for you!
